It's officially Farmer's Market Season! But with everything going on we've made a few adjustments to keep everyone safe!

Sautéed bananas with cinnamon and sugar and First Run Rum, served with Ben & Jerry's vanilla ice cream.

  1. Melt butter in a large pan.
  2. Add bananas and sauté until butter begins to brown.
  3. Add brown sugar and cinnamon, and sauté until caramelized.
  4. Remove pan from burner and add rum, carefully flame.
  5. Throw over a scoop of Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Ice Cream, and enjoy!

  2. Shake briefly.

  4. Top the drink off with ginger beer.

Notes

How to make the Island Dreams Tea Simple Syrup:
Take 1 tablespoon of loose leafs, and steep in 1 cup of hot water for 3 minutes. Strain out leaves, and add 1 cup sugar. Stir until dissolved.

Description

Craft spirits don't just belong in cocktails, they can belong in baked goods too! Try out this great Banana Bread recipe featuring our Rum!


Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 ¼ cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 ½ cup mashed ripe banana
  • 5 tbsp Mad River Distillers Rum (Maple Cask or First Run Rum)
  • 1 ¾ cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Beat the first seven ingredients until blended.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients, until dry ingredients are just moistened. Do not over mix.
  3. The batter should be enough for 1 loaf, or about four mini loafs.
  4. Put mix in bread pan(s), place the pan(s) on a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven for 40 to 50 minutes at 325 degrees.

While our Burlington store remains closed and the Taste Place is accepting curbside orders only, we have been busy at the distillery making hand sanitizer for weekly Mad River Valley giveaways.

As you know, we don't make vodka or gin, so to re-distill our rum to a high proof for sanitizer takes time!! It's very slow.
